Pantone Colour of the Year 2018: Ultra Violet™

Each year, the colour-obsessed folks at Pantone select a shade they believe will capture the imagination, and for 2018 the crown goes to
Ultra Violet™ 18-3838.

Pantone believes the colour ‘communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future’. However unlike 2016’s ubiquitous Rose Quartz or even 2017’s Greenery, Ultra Violet may at first-glance appear less accessible to home interior-enthusiasts.

Although typically associated with flamboyant rock icons such as the late Jimi Hendrix and Prince, Ultra Violet can actually be used to subtle effect throughout the home, creating points of interest and for adding depth to both new and existing schemes. This bold purple lends itself particularly well to sumptuous velvets and regal silks – think cushions and feature walls, as well as contemporary accessories such as glass-ware.
